Franska Marseille är tillsammans med slovakiska Kosice usedda till att vara europeiska kulturhuvudstäder 2013.
I dagarna pågår invigningarna. Öppningscermonin i Marseille var den 12-13 januari och Intercults Chris Torch var på plats.
Den 19-20 januari invigs Kosice.
Nästa år, 2014, kommer Sverige och Lettland att ta över stafettpinnen. Då är det nämligen Umeå och Riga som blir kulturhuvudstäder.
Utnämningsprocessen går till på så sätt att regeringen i respektive land utser kandidater som EU sedan tar ställning till.
Varje år är en eller två europeiska städer utvalda.

The opening for Marseille was last weekend, January 12th, and Intercults Chris Torch was there.
On January 19 to 20 Kosice will be inaugurated.
Next year 2014, Sweden and Latvia take over. Then Umeå and Riga are the Capitals of Culture.
The procedure is done in such a way that the government of each country appoints candidates. After that it is the EU that determines which city that is chosen.
Each year, one or two European cities are selected.
