Michael Walling is a director of theatre, opera and festivals. He founded the UK-based intercultural theatre company Border Crossings in 1995, and has directed most of the company’s productions over 21 years. He also curates Border Crossings’ Origins Festival and programmes the company’s grassroots work with diverse community groups, young people and refugees. Productions elsewhere include: Wagner’s Ring (English National Opera), Macbeth (Mauritius), The Tempest (India), Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Xerxes (USA). He won Best Director awards for Two Gentlemen of Verona in the USA and Paul and Virginie in Mauritius. He is Visiting Professor of Intercultural and Multicultural Performance at Rose Bruford College.
