From the beginning, the Danube Island Festival is a partner of the European Platform River//Cities. This is a network of organizations that combine culture in various forms with rivers and water in general. The River//Cities network includes 40 organisations in over 20 countries. During the 32nd Danube Island Festival in Vienna a conference of River//Cities will be held.
The Danube Island Festival will deepen the European idea in the coming years and increase cooperation with other European festivals even further. Because festivals take a special significance in the sense of a common Europe. They bring people together, create meeting places and strengthen the cooperation.
Vienna is one of the most livable and safest capitals, Vienna is a role model in many areas – from education to culture, labor market measures to environmental protection. And just like Vienna, the Danube Island Festival is a role models: it is considered the most environmentally friendly, sustainable and peaceful free open-air festival in Europe. The Vienna Danube Island Festival offers the perfect setting for the launch of a European initiative for the presentation of a European quality label for festivals.
