Chris Torch has been named one of the trio who forms the Cultural Program for the City of Matera, a shortlisted candidate to become European Capital of Culture 2019. His focus will be performing arts, the European Dimension and strategic planning.
The final Cultural Program for Matera 2019 will be delivered in august and the decision about which Italian city will receive the title will be made in the middle of october. The other cities still in the running are Perugia, Siena, Cagliari, Ravenna and Lecce.
“It is a privilege and an honor to work with a long term cultural strategy for a city of such historical and cultural importance as Matera.”, says Chris Torch. “Artistic director Joseph Grima is a brilliant visual arts curator and we complement one another smoothly. Our third colleague Agostino Riitano is an expert in creative industries. I think we can come up with something competitive and future-oriented.”
Intercult is proud to participate in such a European context with its collected experience and competence.
